While the Danish artist draws on fevered memories, he doesn’t turn them into a cloying nostalgic mush. Hypnotized by the powerful colors and unnatural light so characteristic of that era, he honors them by pushing their limits to the extreme, creating a garish nostalgia steeped in dripping marshmallows.
