Réal Godbout thought of adapting America in Comics over 35 years ago. At the time, the novel had made a big impression on him. He had also read somewhere that Federico Fellini was planning to bring it to the screen, which made him think something could be done with it. Fellini never made the film, but he still used the idea in Intervista, an autobiographical fiction showing him filming America. At the time, he probably thought he was the only one with this idea. He has since found that Kafka, despite his supposedly serious and cerebral approach, even sinister side, could but be turned into comics ...
