Wordless picture book
This project featured an exploration of the Japanese woodblock printing technique (Moku Hanga). The image of this night bird reveals successive layers of semi-opaque ink. Using a Leporello (concertina) format, the book pays homage to a rare work in this format, printed 160 years ago by the publisher Unsodo and also featuring an animal theme. "Dans les bois" appeared in five original exemplars. The copies presented here belong to the third edition, printed in a reduced format in an edition of 100 copies by Studio Trames.
About this artist Fanette Mellier graduated from the Strasbourg School of Decorative Arts in 2000. Trained under graphic designers Pierre Di Sciullo and Pierre Bernard, she has worked as an independent graphic designer since 2004. Her practice focuses primarily on printed matter, collaborating with publishing houses as well as cultural and social institutions. Her work has been exhibited in numerous museums and contemporary art centers, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
About the publisher OK Des Paris is a publishing house founded in 2024 by Sébastien Esteban Desplat, dedicated to exploration and contemporary creation.
