About Clairefontaine:
Clairefontaine, a French company, draws on a century of paper-making expertise. Paper production is a long-standing tradition in the Meurthe Valley, where the first paper mills were established in the 16th century. It was in this favorable environment that Papeteries de Clairefontaine began production in 1858, in the small town of Étival-Clairefontaine, located 90 km from Strasbourg on the banks of the Meurthe River. By utilizing rags supplied by the local textile industry, Clairefontaine quickly became one of the region’s leading paper mills.
