Materials: Jesmonite
Jesmonite is a composite water-based resin that was developed in the 1980s by British chemist Peter Hawkins. The goal was the create an alternative to traditional building materials such as plaster and fibreglass that was safer, more durable, and more versatile.
It also happens to be non-toxic and have a low carbon footprint. Jesmonite’s durability makes it an ideal homeware material in the fight against obsolescence.
Care: Hand wash with mild soap as needed.
For the bowls and plates, we advise against immersing or filling them with water or other liquids (soups, dips, etc) for an extended period of time. As far as food use, they are intended to hold unpeeled fruits and vegetables (with their skins on), or for dry foods.
