About the product:
Stemming from a lucky encounter with a beaten up 1980s’ Amisco stool left as rubbish on the sidewalk, the Periscope collection is the first of a series of lighting explorations aiming to repurpose its metal frame. In kinship with the idea of readymade components as catalysts of design opportunities, these lamps integrates pre-existing material into a new object in which the stool’s formal and sculptural qualities are deeply felt. Produced by the thousands from the 1980s’ to the late 1990s’, the once beloved Amisco stool seems to have fallen out of fashion for now; it is flooding the second-hand furniture market, often remaining unsold for months. It now holds the potential for a second life in the production of new designs.
The prototypes for sale at the POP POP POP exhibition were made using components from the original stool. However, units ordered through the online shop will be custom-made from new materials, with a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks. Buyers can choose a powder coating color from the supplier's available RAL color chart
